My connection with Spanish began around 15 years ago. Around 10 years ago, I first moved to Spain, an experience that gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the language and culture and to experience first-hand what it means to live and communicate in another language. Spain has remained an important part of my life ever since, and I continue to visit regularly, keeping my relationship with the language, culture and my friends strong.

My own academic journey has always been centred around languages. I studied Spanish Language and Literature at university, graduating with First-Class Honours, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Conference Interpreting and Translation, specialising in Spanish and French into English. My studies gave me a deep understanding of Spanish grammar, vocabulary, culture and literature, as well as the precision and attention to detail needed to communicate effectively at an advanced level.

My experience extends beyond teaching. I had the opportunity to work within the Communication Unit of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Interpretation, where I supported communication projects, multilingual content and initiatives aimed at making European institutions more accessible to citizens. This experience strengthened my appreciation of the importance of clear, effective communication and gave me valuable insight into working with languages in a professional and international environment.

Alongside my academic and professional experience, I have spent more than a decade working with students of different ages and abilities. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel that Spanish is difficult or overwhelming to find a way of learning that makes sense to them. Whether a student is aiming for a top GCSE or A Level grade, preparing for an oral exam, or simply wants to become more confident speaking Spanish, I believe that progress comes from combining strong foundations with regular practice and encouragement.

I created Lingua Unitus to bring together everything I have learned through my studies, professional language work and years of teaching. My aim is to provide students with a supportive, structured and immersive learning environment where they can build their vocabulary, strengthen their grammar, develop their understanding of the Spanish-speaking world and, most importantly, become confident communicators.

For me, learning Spanish is about much more than memorising words and rules. It is about understanding how the language works, discovering the cultures behind it and developing the confidence to express yourself.
